Better Performance for Pentel

[Published on IT Web: 10 August 2011] -
As a longstanding service provider for Pentel, Synergy Group was called in to assess its network infrastructure to determine whether it was running optimally.

"Pentel had Windows SBS 2003 running on old servers, which were due to be replaced," says Sean Westmore, IT Solutions Operations Manager for Synergy. "Pentel's MD, Ted Shinoda, also wanted an upgraded environment in which their new Apple products would work."

With its extensive product knowledge and expertise in the field of enhancing infrastructure performance, Synergy proposed that Pentel implement a new HP DL380 G7 server. VMware's virtualisation software will also be used to install the new Active Directory server, Exchange 2010 server as well as the Microsoft TMG firewall.

Westmore comments: "This is why virtualisation is so great! Instead of buying separate servers for the different functions, we can use virtualisation to create virtual servers without the client having to buy an additional server!"

Yvonne Agnew, General Manager of Pentel, concludes: "We are excited to work with Synergy on this project and are very happy that not only will we get a new, better infrastructure, but we are also getting a lot more functionality!"
