Synergy Group joined forces with Reach For A Dream in a bid to collect as many teddy bears as possible for the 'Show You Care, Give A Bear' campaign. Working together for a good cause, the Synergy staff pledged over 100 teddies, which were given to the children in the Oncology and Nephrology wards at the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital (Joburg Gen).
Reach For A Dream is an organisation synonymous with “inspiring hope”, and its overriding philosophy is based on the power of dreams. It uses this viewpoint to encourage children to fight life-threatening illnesses by making their dreams come true. “Inspiring hope” is not only something Reach For A Dream does for sick children; it also inspires hope, compassion and generosity in everyone who has the privilege of being involved in its campaigns.
Thursday, 15 September 2011, was a truly special day, and a few Synergy staff members experienced something extraordinary in being present when the teddy bears were handed out. Elle Marx, Marketing Manager of Synergy Group, comments: “The kids are an inspiration; they are fighting one of the toughest battles they'll ever have to face, but can still have a smile, high five, 'sharp' or a hug for a stranger. Our hope was to give them a little more joy, but they have given us something amazing and truly heart-warming.”
Katlego Tshabangu, National Marketing Co-ordinator: Reach For A Dream, remarks: “All thanks go out to Synergy Group for their generosity, and for taking the time out to bring warm smiles to ill children.”
One of the many lessons learned in being involved in campaigns of this nature is that there is more to be gained in giving than in receiving. The staff and directors of Synergy Group strive to live this every day, and are delighted and honoured to have been a part of something so inspiring.
