Tip Top Deal Awarded to Synergy Group

[Published on IT Web: 30 November 2010] -
Adding an extra business to an already international company is no small feat, but to ensure the smooth merging of the networking infrastructure is also no easy task.

For this reason, when Rema Tip Top, an international rubber manufacturer for the automotive and other industries, acquired an additional company, it realised it needed the best company in assisting it with the set-up of its new networking infrastructure. “Synergy Group has been one of our business partners for years. As a current Accpac client, we know what they offer in terms of service and expertise, and decided that they will be the best choice to assist us in this big task,” says Diana Blankfield, IT Manager, Rema Tip Top.

In conjunction with Tarsus Technologies, Synergy Group proposed the HP solution, as HP is the only vendor that can supply a converged solution with servers, storage, network switches, management software, power and cooling. “We are very excited about this project. The offering we created for Rema Tip Top is based on Hewlett Packard's converged solutions, including blade servers, ProCurve networking and P4300 storage systems. We found that the best options for redundancy dictated that the client needed a Datacentre at the new Benoni head office and a second centre hosted at DataPro with a third set-up in Howick using DL 380 G7 servers and the brilliant P4300 storage system. It is thanks to HP and the ESSN sales team at Tarsus that we were able to supply the latest technology to our client in the best configuration and price point possible,” comments Miles Regenass, IT Solutions Specialist, Synergy Group.

Apart from the HP converged system, new Microsoft Licensing and virtualisation with VMware Virtualisation software was supplied. Using blade servers with VMware can increase operational efficiency and allows companies to save money long after the servers are purchased and installed. By combining the networking components, servers, and shared storage, blade servers can reduce the need to physically interact with more individual devices in your environment; providing the potential for existing staff to do more in less time.

VMware vSphere, the industry's most complete and robust virtualisation platform, dramatically reduces capital and operating costs and maximizes IT efficiency while giving Rema Tip Top agility through automation and the freedom to choose applications, operating systems and hardware. Combined with HP P4000 Clustered Storage, high availability will be ensured.

In conclusion, Ashley Regenass, CEO, Synergy Group, adds: “Rema Tip Top has been a client for years now, and we are very excited for them in their new venture and proud to be assisting them in making their infrastructure bigger and better.”
